Description:
SIBS is a one-on-one mentoring program. You will be paired with a child between 6 and 12 years old who has been referred by a school guidance counselor. Once onboarded as a Big, you will meet with your Little for at least two hours every week that you are on campus. You can go swimming, take walks, play games, go out for a meal, etc. Free activities are ideal, but you will have a small budget each term.

or
Spring 25 and Fall 25.

Essays
Why do you want to participate in SIBs? In your response, please reflect on aspects of your life that draw you to this program
and
think about what you hope your Little will gain from the relationship.
(Maximum 250 words)
Good mentoring requires meeting youth where they are. Your Little may differ significantly from you in interests, strengths and struggles, and personality. How do you envision working with and across these differences to build a relationship with your Little?
(Maximum 250 words
)
While differences will open up growth opportunities for Bigs and Littles, SIBs also understands the bonding power of
shared
interests, strengths and struggles, and facets of personality. In this spirit, is there anything you would like us to keep in mind as we arrange matches?
(Maximum 250 words
)
Optional:
Is there anything else you want to share about your interest in and/or skills for SIBS?

Agreements
Please check each statement to indicate agreement.
As a Big Sib, I will meet with my Little once per week for at least two hours during the on-campus terms I marked earlier in this application. If an emergency prevents attendance, I will notify the family and the SIBs student director as soon as possible.
As a Big Sib, I will respond within 48 hours to questions asked by the student director and DCSI staff (by email or text).
As a Big Sib, I will complete the weekly online "activity log" within 24 hours of meeting with my Little.
I understand that, if accepted, I will be background-checked by the school district that my Little Sib attends. I understand that this process can take a month and that I may therefore not start to meet with my Little until the middle or end of the Winter term.
